Q. Who owns and manages Burton Memorial Hall?
A. The Hall is a registered charity, no. 505018, and is held in trust by the Charity Commission Official Custodian on behalf of the parish of Burton. The running of the Hall is carried out by a Management Committee comprising of elected members along with representatives of user groups, and is managed under the terms of the Hall's Constitution.

Q. How many rooms are there and how big are they?
A. There are four rooms available for booking. Please see the Rooms link in the menu for full details.

Q. For which activities is Burton Memorial Hall licensed?
A. The Hall holds a Premises Licence issued by South Lakeland District Council, which permits the following licensable activities: a performance of a play; an exhibition of a film; an indoor sporting event; a performance of live music; any playing of recorded music; a performance of dance; entertainment facilities for making music; entertainment facilities for dancing.

Q. Does Burton Memorial Hall hold an alcohol license?
A. Yes, the Premises Licence issued by South Lakeland District Council includes the sale by retail of alcohol. The Hall's Hiring Agreement also includes specific requirements for Hirers wishing to sell alcohol on the premises. N.B. The Licence covers both alcohol sales and donations made in respect of alcohol. Use of the Hall for the provision of alcohol at events must be requested at the time of booking if the Hirer intends to provide alcohol for sale or in return for a donation.

Q. Does Burton Memorial Hall have music licences?
A. Yes the Hall holds a PRS and PPS licence, covering both live and recorded music.

Q. Does Burton Memorial Hall have internet access?
A. Yes, the Hall has free WiFi for booked in users.

Q. Does Burton Memorial Hall has facilities for babies/children?
A. Yes, the Hall has two baby-change stations, plus a toilet for under-school-age children (with small toilets and low-level sinks.)

Q. Does Burton Memorial Hall have facilities for disabled persons?
A. Yes, the Hall has level access at both ends; a disabled toilet at the south end; a hearing loop is available in the Reception Room and the main hall.

Q. Can I have animals at my bookings at the Hall?
A. No, animals are not permitted in the Hall unless they are official assistance dogs.

Q. Does Burton Memorial Hall have car parking space?
A. Yes, there is a car park for Hall users for 34 cars immediately in front of the Hall. There are 2 marked disabled bays in the car park for the use of Blue Badge holders, these are alongside the north end entrance door.

Q. Is there a bus service nearby?
A. Yes, the 555/556 service between Lancaster and Kendal/Keswick, and the bus stops approx 50 yards from the Hall.

Q. Which is the closest railway station?
A. Carnforth Station is 5 miles away, Lancaster and Oxenholme The Lake District are both approx. 13 miles away.

Q. I'm attending an event at the Hall, what other facilities are there in Burton-in-Kendal?
A. The village has a general store/newsagent/post office, a butcher's shop selling locally raised meats, a pub which serves food every day and which has accommodation, and several guest-houses offering bed and breakfast accommodation. The village also has a multi use games area and a bowling green, both within a couple of minutes' walk from the Hall. There is a petrol station on the A6 approx a mile to the west of the village, and the Burton Moto Services on the M6 northbound are less than a mile from the village.
