Can you help us raise £1000?

BMH Crowdfunder appeal header

Our hall needs to replace the pitched roof which is showing signs of wear and leakage & we'd like to make it solar panelled one to generate electricity to run the hall, but we need a structural survey to see if the roof will take the weight of the proposed new panels. We have set up a Crowdfunder to pay towards the survey, can you help us by donating or sharing or Crowdfunder link please? Every donation, of any size, will help us hit our goal. Thank you! https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/roof-inspection-report-for-solar-panels

It might also be useful to explain what the hall wants to do re the main roof, so here goes. The main hall roof is almost 33 years old, and is showing signs of wear (edge degradation, rust, minor leaks etc) and is past its expected lifespan. The hall committee has discussed the various options - repair the existing roof and give it a couple more years of life, replace with like-for-like, or replace with integrated solar panels. The latter is the committee's preferred choice but it depends on what condition the roof supports are in and whether they will take the weight of the proposed integrated panels. To establish this we need to commission a structural engineer to look at the roof supports, hence our need for funds to pay for it. We have applied for a grant to cover two-thirds of the cost (£2000), and the crowdfunder will, we hope, cover the remaining third of the fee (£1000). If the crowdfunder exceeds its target then the surplus funds donated will be used to pay towards the next phase of the work (i.e. the remedial work if the supports won't take the extra weight, or the application for planning consent and building regulations if they will). Using crowdfunder to raise some of the cost helps us prove to the grant funder that the hall has the support of our community, which is why every donation really does matter. If everyone in the village gave £1 it would send a strong message to the funders that the hall is important to you, so please, will you help us if you can? We know times are hard for many families so we're not asking for big donations, but if we can garner lots of smaller ones it will help enormously.
